Nine McCarthy students are selected to participate in the National Merit Scholarship Program. These students are among 50,000 students nation wide chosen out of an initial screen of approximately 1.4 millions entrants. Only students with the highest PSAT/NMSQT Selection Index scores in critical thinking, mathematics, and writing skills qualify for the recognition in the National Merit Scholarship Program. It is a great achievement and the entire Maverick community is very proud of them. We wish them luck and prolong success along the way.

Friday, June 27, 2008 was, indeed, a special night!! Congregating at Dave & Buster’s in Hollywood, members of the Archbishop McCarthy class of 2003 reunited with teachers and administrators to catch up and reminisce. Once again, Dave & Buster’s provided first-rate catering and entertainment, but the clear highlight of the evening was the fellowship and friendship that has become such a part of the Archbishop McCarthy community. Many thanks to all who helped to make the evening an event to remember! The 2008 Student Raffle was once again a HUGE SUCCESS as over $150,000.00 was collected prior to the Grand prize drawing on Friday, September 12th. Mr. Bertolone, who has been the raffle chairman wants to thank all those parent volunteers who helped in counting cash and checks over the three-week drive. Special thanks to Mrs. Shirley Schubert who has headed the committee for the past two years and Mrs. Lori Phillips who assisted the entire entire campaign. Because the Students reached the Schoolwide goal of $150,000. those who fulfilled their raffle committment during the campaign will be rewarded with the Wednesday before Thanksgiving as a special Free Day to be able to Start their Holiday a day early. The excitement of our new Maverick Families was overwhelming at this year's new Parent Social. With over 100 parents in attendance, many new friendships were nurtured. The event took place prior to the New Parent Orientation on Wednesday, August 27th in our school's Media Center. Words of welcome and sounds of laughter filled the air among AMHS faculty, administration and new parents. We pray that this example of enthusiasm continues throughout the school year.
