The Award Winning Archbishop McCarthy High School (AMHS) Drama Department, 5451 S Flamingo Road, Southwest Ranches, is gearing up for its Annual Community Service Play.  Don’t, will be performed throughout the school day for Broward and Dade County middle school children February 22nd, 23rd and 25th in the Archbishop McCarthy High School Maverick Theater. 

“Don’t - is primarily about sexting,” said author Cindy Keegan who doubles as the Archbishop McCarthy Artistic Director, sexting is a huge issue with today's teenagers.  This past December a girl committed suicide over a sex-ting incident.”

Through improvisation and audience interaction the one act play Don't will explore mistakes students Don't want to make. “Our actors will present the story through a series of true-to- life vignettes,” Keegan continued.  “The audience will see first hand the hazards of sexting, taking drugs and hanging out with the wrong crowd.   Each vignette is a wake up call…. the impact of the stories will stay with the audience long after they have left the theater.”

While Don’t addresses a very serious subject, the play will also tickle your funny bone.  Don’t is an enjoyable play which packs a punch.   “Later this month over 1,000 middle school students will attend the production of Don't,” said Keegan.  Last year middle school students attended the original play Bad Call and the year before Cyber Mare, which were written by Keegan. 
Don’t evening performances will be held February 22nd, 25th and 26th.  Prices: $10 per ticket at the door or   $8 in advance.  Curtain rises at 6:00pm in the Maverick Theater (play is one hour) – Don’t be late!
