Southwest Ranches, FL… September 24, 2009… Over one hundred people of all ages came to the dedication and blessing of the Health and Fitness Center at Archbishop McCarthy High School. The 3,000+ square foot Health and Fitness Center features custom made weight lifting equipment, a surround sound stereo system, and flat screen televisions. The Center was made possible by the generosity of Brian Calaluca and the AMHS Athletic Booster Club.
During the speeches Dr. Perhla proudly stated that “the Health and Fitness Center is the tenth building project completed at AMHS – and on time, thanks to Hunter Construction”. Thanks was directed to AMHS supporter
"Mr. Calaluca, has been a consistent advocate of Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Miami," said Dr. Richard J. Perhla, Archbishop Edward McCarthy High School Principal. Athletic Director Tony Massaro brought tears to the eyes of many when he spoke of the importance of team work and team prayer. And, Jerry Willenborg, Chairperson of the AMHS Athletic Development Committee pitched the newest fundraiser… “50 sets of Maverick Football season passes for eternity… for $2,000”.
The Health and Fitness Center is located adjacent to the 24,230 square foot Student and Performing Arts Center, which opened less than one year ago on October 1 2008. “Now on to project 11,” said Dr. Perhla as he gave the crowd a few details on the upcoming AMHS Athletic Expansion which will include a multipurpose stadium with 2,500+ seat bleacher, a refurbished track, and artificial field turf, and a Sports Complex with locker rooms, coach’s offices, concession stand, and classrooms.
