Reading
Counts
is a computer-based reading motivational program that helps boost reading ability
and improve test scores. Students choose their books from a list of titles and
then take a test for each book read. These tests are taken in the Media Center
after school between 2:30 and 4:00pm. A Reading Counts
test is comprised of 10 multiple-choice
questions. If students do not receive a passing score of
70% on the first try, they can retake the test the next
day with different questions. They may only be tested
three times for the same book. All students at
Archbishop McCarthy are required to read and pass at
least 4 books per year. Therefore, students should have completed
the following tests at the end of the year:
Freshmen 4, Sophomore 8, Juniors 12, and Seniors 16. Please
